Celtic and Angel Series

The majority of these paintings have found their owners but new pictures can be painted to commission

Christina has compiled a new series of Celtic designs that feature traditional and contemporary motifs: Animals, birds, religious and cultural symbolism.

In this way Christina resurrects, old, half-forgotten formats and with an imaginative twist can transform them into something somewhere between old and brand spanking new.

Medium: Acrylic & calligraphy Inks - An eclectic mix of techniques: By utilising the qualities of the good watercolour paper Christina is able to work wet in wet, achieving natural organic textures within the painted areas. This difficult and often unpredictable technique gives her work a unique and distinctive style.

Inspired by the natural beauty of the Welsh Borders the current Celtic series is based upon ancient Celtic designs. Sadly their wealth of meaning and symbolism is largely lost on the modern audience.

However, charged with a love of complex, interwoven, delicate design I have created new contemporary Celtic designs. Many of which are based upon animal and bird forms I love to use earth tones or vivid blues, mostly dichromatic, and exclusively using acrylic inks.

These inks give both strong colours & subtle tones, and are light fast & water proof when dry. I have developed a self taught wet in wet technique on Bockingford 300 gm acid free paper, that enables me to achieve organic textures within the painted areas.
